Glass is always the weakest link. PROFILON® offers delay in smash & grab burglary PROFILON’s® performance was demonstrated to the United States Marines at Quantico Virginia on 6 mm conventional (annealed) store front or office window glass.
A charge of one pound (approx. 500 grams) of C-4 plastic explosive was detonated 5 feet (1.5 meters) from a window treated with PROFILON® AX-A1. No penetration of the glass and 100% glass fragment retention was demonstrated. The results seen in these pictures were consistent time after time.

In technical terms the peak incident velocity of this blast exceeds 34 PSI (23.900 kg/m²) with a shock front velocity of 1900 Ft/sec (580 m/sec.). In layman's terms, spectacular performance well beyond that of conventional window films. Beyond this level of performance conventional glass should not be used if explosive potential exists and expensive reglazing with composites should be considered. PROFILON® was originally invented for glass fragment retention over 30 years ago and has been in continuous service in many locations around the world passively providing protection against this threat.
